*Which type of rice to eat to control weight…?*
Rice is a major staple in the Indian diet. Rice is consumed in the daily diet in almost all households across the country. Despite this, rice is criticized that eating too much rice leads to weight gain. It doesn’t really matter what type of rice you use as long as rice is eaten in the right amount in each meal and the rest of the plate is balanced. But if you still have to choose, it is advisable to use minimally processed or unpolished rice.

The less processed the rice, the more fiber it contains, and thus, even with less rice, it fills the stomach and helps in weight control. Brown rice, red rice, black rice are some of the options that are unpolished and have high fiber content. The amount of rice in a plate and whether the other ingredients in the plate are balanced are more important than the type of rice for weight control.

If rice is included in a balanced diet and its quantity is controlled, there is no need to avoid eating rice at all. But still if you want to avoid eating rice then you should avoid eating polished rice. Any type of rice will do, but it is best for health if it is in its natural form.

In the era of fad diets, alternatives like cauliflower rice or broccoli rice are becoming popular. They are lower in carbohydrates than conventional rice, but these rices are also highly processed, making these alternatives unhealthy.
